Montenegrin Government's statement on crisis in Ukraine

Published on: Mar 4, 2014 11:19 PM Author: PR Bureau

Podgorica, Montenegro (4 March 2014) -- Starting from its European commitments, strongly supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and stressing the need to respect international obligations and generally accepted principles, including the United Nations Charter, the Helsinki Final Act and the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, Montenegro, as an EU candidate country, joins the conclusions of the EU Council on Ukraine of 3 March 2014.

Given the tragic experiences from the recent past during the breakup of Yugoslavia, Montenegro is monitoring the developments in Ukraine with special sensibility, regret and concern, hoping that a peaceful and democratic solution will be found through internal dialogue and constructive cooperation of all stakeholders and adequate support of the entire international community, in particular the UN and the OSCE.
