Podgorica, Montenegro (7 March 2014) -- Montenegrin Government approved at yesterday’s session the loan agreement between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Montenegrin Electrical Transmission System for the project of setting up a high voltage cable between the municipalities of Tivat and Pljevlja. The 2014 Budget Law envisages the issuance of guarantees amounting to EUR 20 million. The cable’s installation will close the electricity supply cycle within the Montenegrin transmission network, thus becoming more reliable and stronger, and at the same time, reducing potential negative impact of the neighbouring electricity systems.

Montenegro will invest a total of EUR 52.962.309 in preserving the existing road infrastructure and building new roads, the Cabinet concluded on Thursday. Since the restoration of independence in 2006, Montenegro has invested more than EUR 300 million in the maintenance, reconstruction and construction of the state roads. Over one hundred projects have been implemented, thus making the tranport in Montenegro safer, more comfortable and economical, at the same time enabling better accessibility of Montenegro as a tourist destination.

The Government also discussed the construction of the first Montenegro’s aerial cableway connecting the municipalities of Cetinje and Kotor. The project is to be implemented under a public-private partnership, with an estimated worth of EUR 47 million, the press release issued following the Cabinet meeting read.
