Montenegro's Council for improvement of business environment proposes measures for reducing illegal employment
Podgorica, Montenegro (13 March 2014) -- At yesterday's session, Montenegro's Council for improvement of business environment, regulatory and structural reform, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić, discussed the issue of informal employment and proposed measures for strengthening inspections in reducing illegal employment, as well as for strengthening promotional campaigns aimed at raising awareness about legal employment’s importance.
The Council considered the activities taken towards the implementation of the Action Plan in line with the Open Government Partnership’s principles and recommendations set out in the Action Plan for implementing recommendations from the “Guillotine of Regulations”, and tasked all the departments covered by the Action Plan to develop a responsible approach to the implementation of measures they have been committed to.
The Council members also got acquainted with the Draft Law on efficient use of energy and the Analysis of financial and other preconditions necessary for the implementation of a pilot project related to ICT introduction in primary education. The Council also approved the Analysis of possibilities for further development of public - private partnerships within Montenegro’s health system.
Furthermore, the Council addressed Montenegro’s position in various international reports (Corruption Perceptions Index 2013 - Transparency International; 2014 Index of Economic Freedom - Heritage Foundation; Global Competitiveness Index 2013-2014 - World Economic Forum; 2013 Transition Report - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; Economic Freedom of the World 2013” - Fraser Institute), putting particular emphasis on the progress Montenegro has made in latest reports, as well as in areas that should take central stage in the coming period.
Analysis of effects of introducing tax reliefs for members of voluntary pension funds and the Analysis of the implementation of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (“MiFID“) in Montenegro were at the Council meeting's agenda as well on Wednesday.
