Prime Minister Đukanović at Brussels Security Forum: EU and NATO – framework for Balkans’ security and stability

Brussels, Belgium (23 March 2014) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović participated earlier today at the Brussels Security Forum panel entitled Europe’s Stake in US Strategy. The panel discussed the importance of US role in the process of stabilisation of the Western Balkans from 1990s until today, as well as the historic importance of trans-Atlantic partnership between Europe and the US and the need to strengthen this partnership in the wake of contemporary challenges.

Prime Minister Đukanović’s participation at the forum was an opportunity for him to meet with various officials and present Montenegro’s achievements in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, regional cooperation, and current developments in the region. The Prime Minister spoke about the importance of promoting the European and Euro-Atlantic communities in the Balkans, as well as regional cooperation.

Other speakers at the panel were Philip Breedlove, SACEUR, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Pieter De Crem, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Belgium, and US Congressman Michael Turner.
