Luxembourg City, Luxembourg (24 March 2014) – Montenegro and Luxembourg have developed excellent relations, but there is space for their further improvement, particularly in the fields of economy and integration, the meeting between Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and his Luxembourg’s counterpart Xavier Bettel highlighted earlier today.

Prime Minister Đukanović thanked Mr Bettel for the support Luxembourg had provided to Montenegro through major development assistance in the previous period, as well as for its overall support for Montenegro’s integration path.

“That kind of expert support for Montenegro’s EU bid is of high significance for our country,” he underlined.

Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel stressed his country's interest in fostering mutual cooperation considering the achievements of the Government of Montenegro in the integration process. In that context, he commended the adoption of new electoral laws and Montenegro's commitment to the implementation of required reforms.

The two officials also noted that collaboration in terms of economy and investments will be enhanced in the coming period. They also discussed the status of Montenegrin diaspora in Luxembourg, as well as a wide range of issues related to the region and the EU.
