Podgorica, Montenegro (26 March 2014) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information Society and Telecommunications Vujica Lazović spoke at the round table titled "Export - Necessity and Chance", which took place at Montenegro’s Chamber of Commerce earlier today.

"Montenegro’s journey towards the EU accession rises the country’s competitiveness to a higher level, both in terms ofopening markets and facilitated placement of goods and services, and in terms of achieving standards in their production and placement," DPM Lazović noted.

He also indicated that import is a good signal to foreign and domestic investors about the market's demand, so that it could be substituted by domestic production.

"Competitiveness of the Montenegrin economy is a top priority at the Government’s agenda. All sectoral policies and strategies are aimed at making Montenegrin products and services competitive in the international market. To achieve this, it is necessary to adjust economic structure of our country to the potentials in tourism, energy, agriculture and industry," Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.

The roundtable's participants agreed that the Montenegrin economy has made progress when it comes to competitiveness, and that measures proposed by economic policy makers and entrepreneurs will contribute to increasing competitiveness of the Montenegrin products, and therefore the export.
