Bratislava, Slovakia (26 March 2014) – Montenegrin Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavarić and his Slovakia’s counterpart Tomás Malatinsky met earlier today in Bratislava to sign the agreement on economic cooperation, particularly aimed at the establishment of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation.
“The first Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Montenegro and Slovakia is scheduled for this autumn in Montenegro. In that regard, I expect the project to involve entrepreneurs from both countries,” Minister Kavarić stated.
Slovakia’s Minister Malatinsky underlined that this agreement is aimed at boosting collaboration not only between the two ministries, but between the two countries as well. The establishment of the institutional framework for developing and improving bilateral economic and technical ties in the fields of industry, transport and telecommunications, energy and mining industry, tourism, agriculture, environmental protection, and investments in small and medium-sized enterprises is of mutual interest for the overall progress of both countries, he added.
The agreement is stimulating in terms of research opportunities which are to be provided to regional and local entities, professional chambers, business associations and private sector for implementing a wide range of projects, the meeting stressed. The agreement will create opportunities for both countries to promote participation of public and private sectors in numerous international fairs and exhibitions taking place in Montenegro and Slovakia, and also to strengthen collaboration among state institutions, commercial companies and professional organisations, the two officials noted.
Minister Kavarić presented to representatives of the Slovakian Government the most important investment projects and opportunities in Montenegro, particularly in the fields of energy, industry, oil and gas exploration, and tourism.
Slovakia’s experience in the development of infrastructural projects in energy and industry, as well as in implementing the “Business Zone” project, is extremely valuable for the upcoming projects to be carried out in Montenegro, the meeting concluded.
