Visegrád Group supports Montenegro on its path towards EU accession

Podgorica, Montenegro (27 March 2014) -- State Secretary and Montenegro's Chief EU Negotiator Aleksandar Andrija Pejović attended the plenary session of the Visegrád Group’s in Podgorica. The meeting discussed Montenegro’s overall progress in the EU accession process and the role of the Visegrád Group in the EU enlargement process.
Ambassador Pejović informed the Visegrád Group's delegation about the dynamics of Montenegro’s progress towards the EU, adding that thanks to the great commitment and hard work of all Montenegro’s stakeholders, it has successfully realised all phases of the process.
Following good examples and model of the Visegrád Group, Montenegro is trying to establish its position within the regional initiatives, particularly in the EU accession process, Ambassador Pejović highlighted. In that regard, Montenegro is willing to share its knowledge and experience with other countries in the region for the purpose of rapid progress of each state as well as the entire region, he stressed.
Representatives of the Visegrád Group welcomed the progress Montenegro has achieved towards the EU and pledged their full support to Montenegro’s accession process. In that context, they addressed the issues related to concrete support within expert and technical cooperation.
Montenegro has affirmed the neighbourhood policy aimed at preserving regional dialogue through its presidency over the most important regional initiatives, which represents a strong indicator of its economic and overall progress, representatives of the Visegrád Group concluded.
