PM Đukanović hosts WHO Regional Director Zsuzsanna Jakab: Montenegro to introduce modern health care standards

Podgorica, Montenegro (27 March 2014) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted yesterday the WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab. He thanked Regional Director Jakab for the WHO's continued support and cooperation which contribute to the improvement of Montenegro’s health care system.

Montenegro is introducing standards aimed at becoming part of modern European health care system in order to raise the quality of health care, Prime Minister Đukanović highlighted.

Director Jakab commended Montenegro for the reforms implemented within the health care system, adding that Montenegro could be a good example of a model protection in the field of primary health care. The WHO also supports the policy the government’s is conducting in this field, particularly the fact that public health and improvement of situation in this area represent one of the key Government priorities, she underlined.

The two officials agreed to continue cooperation between the WHO and Ministry of Health, namely in terms of the prevention of the most frequent diseases.
