Podgorica, Montenegro (28 March 2014) – The Visegrad Group will continue to support Montenegro in meeting its European and Euro-Atlantic priorities, not only at the political level, but also through the implementation of concrete projects in the fields of free movement of goods, protection of competitiveness, environmental protection and agriculture, the meeting between representatives of the Visegrad Group and Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Duško Marković concluded Thursday in Podgorica.

DPM Marković voiced his pleasure with the long-term cooperation with member states of the Visegrad Group, particularly referring to the memorandum on cooperation signed between the Montenegrin Ministry of Justice and justice ministries of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. He stressed that these memorandums represent a solid platform for the exchange of experiences and direct expert support in the field of justice and rule of law, adding this might accelerate the signing of similar memorandum with the Czech Republic.

The Visegrad Group’s representatives commended the results Montenegro has achieved on its path towards the EU, noting that measures within the action planes for chapters 23 and 24, particularly the establishment of the Special Prosecution Office and Agency for fighting corruption represent a good basis for exchange of experiences and good practise.

The meeting also discussed the continued training programmes at the Montenegrin Judicial Training Centre, as well as the further strengthening of the centre as an important link in education of judges and prosecutors.
