Dubai, United Arabic Emirates (30 March 2013) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications Vujica Lazović delivered a speech at the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), which took place in Dubai. The main topic at this years' conference was "Broadband Access for Sustainable Development.”

DPM Lazović emphasised the importance of the internet as a developmental generator of a country, particularly referring to the results Montenegro has achieved so far and also the challenges in indentifying economic potentials of the broadband.

Five pillars within the Strategy for Development of Information Society in Montenegro are supported by ten development programmes aimed at primariy strengthening ICT infrastructure programmes, Mr Lazović underlined, adding that the main objective of this programme is to provide high-quality broadband internet approach to all society structures in Montenegro.

In that context, Montenegro will continuously work on raising the quality of infrastructure and the impact will be visible when it comes to the quality of electronic communications services, as well as the overall development of the country, DPM Lazović highlighted.

“We cannot forget that driving force of Montenegro’s development are its citizens and their growing interest in broadband internet, modern and capacitive applications, and electronic services, which proves that penetration of the mobile broadband approach in Montenegro is above the average in the EU member states,” DPM Lazović emphasised.
