New EUR 1.4 million for four scientific and research institutions in Montenegro

Podgorica, Montenegro ( 5 April 2014) – Twenty-nine projects from Montenegro’s universities and other licensed research institutions applied to the competition the Ministry of Science launched for the award of grants for research and development projects on 18 October 2013. 

After a two-stage external evaluation, 4 highly recommended projects were selected and will be funded over the next three years in the total amount of EUR 1.4 million. The projects are:

1. Project CS -ICT, Faculty of Electrical Engineering; University of Montenegro;
2. Project PRODE, Faculty of Polytechnics, University of Donja Gorica;
3. Project LOVĆEN, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Montenegro;
4. Project SUST-MARINA, Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Montenegro.

Following the realisation of the competition and the signing of contracts with the four first-ranked institutions, the Ministry of Science will announce a new competition for the award of grants in mid-2014. Grants for scientific and research institutions in Montenegro are aimed at raising level of their research and laboratory equipment, in order to be prepared for obtaining the Centre of Excellence status in the future.
