Foreign Minister Lukšić attends event marking 10th anniversary of bus crash in which twelve Bulgarian students were killed
Prijepolje, Serbia (6 April 2014) -- Montenegro’s Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić and his Bulgarian and Serbian counterparts, Kristian Vigenin and Ivan Mrkić, laid a wreath at the 12 Roses memorial, marking the 10th anniversary of a tragic bus crash, in which 12 Bulgarian students were killed near the Serbian village of Gostun close to the border with Montenegro.
Minister Lukšić noted that such events are inevitably full of sorrow and sympathy, but are also a reminder to do everything possible to create a system that will bring new opportunities and to join efforts towards creating a better future. He added that this tragedy brought closer the three towns, reiterating the obligation of Montenegro, Bulgaria and Serbia to work hard towards promoting cooperation and good neighborly relations.
Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed his immense gratitude to the people who came to help the Bulgarian students not thinking about themselves, pointing out this tragedy was an occasion for a new rapprochement between peoples of Bulgaria, Montenegro and Serbia. The tragedy, in Minister Vigenin’s words, also demonstrated that new time has come for the Balkan countries to move together towards building new values.
