Defense and Security Council Held Session

The session of the Defense and Security Council was held today in Podgorica. The session was chaired by the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, and attended by the members of the Council: the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić and the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Djukanović. The session of the Council was attended, by invitation, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Montenegro, Duško Marković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Igor Lukšić PhD., Minister of Defense Prof. Dr. Milica Pejanović - Djurišić, the Director of the National Security Agency, Boro Vučinić MA and Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro Vice- Admiral, Dragan Samardžić.
The Defense and Security Council has promoted the normative and organizational activities in the security sector aimed at NATO integration.
The Council formulated the proposal of the decision on sending members of the Army of Montenegro to the European UnionÈs military mission “European Union Training Mission” (EUTM) in Mali, which will be submitted to the Montenegrin Parliament for consideration under the simplified procedure. The proposal of decision envisages sending of an officer of the Army of Montenegro to this European Union’s mission, with the possibility of rotation.
The Council has made a decision on the regular promotion of Vice-Admiral Dragan Samardžić, Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, to the rank of Admiral.
The Council considered other issues within its competence.
