Prime Minister Đukanović at State Department: USA will continue providing support to Montenegro

Washington D.C, the USA (8 April 2014) – Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović began his official visit to the USA on Monday and met with Deputy Secretary of State William Joseph Burns.

PM Đukanović informed Mr Burns about current political and economic activities in Montenegro, particularly referring to the progress made towards European and Euro-Atlantic accession. Montenegro appreciates the US comprehensive support in all phases of the contemporary relations between the two states, Prime Minister Đukanović highlighted.

The US Deputy Secretary of State commended the positive results Montenegro achieved as regards its domestic and foreign policy goals, in particular the progress made within the four key areas of NATO accession process. The USA is willing to support Montenegro during the whole accession process, he added.

The USA highly appreciates the partnership with Montenegro, Mr Burns emphasised, adding that the US Government will make efforts towards further deepening cooperation with Montenegro in all fields.
