Prime Minister Đukanović visits White House: USA fully committed to strengthening partnership with Montenegro

Washington, D.C, the USA (9 April 2014) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met on Tuesday with US Vice President Joseph Biden to discuss Montenegro’s European and Euro-Atlantic accession processes.

PM Đukanović informed the US Vice President about Montenegro’s reform activities on its path towards Euro-Atlantic accession.

“The USA made a huge contribution to the overall progress of Montenegro in times when Montenegro was making extensive efforts to preserve multiethnic harmony, peace and to reach important decisions in a democratic manner. The support of our partner is visible even today, when Montenegro is close to the NATO membership”, he emphasised.

Vice President Biden underlined that Montenegro and the USA cherish friendly relations based on mutual trust and partnership. Montenegro has achieved progress in pursuing reforms and standards within the integration processes, particularly in the field of security, rule of law and strengthening of the public support for NATO integration, Mr Biden underlined.

The two officials also discussed the regional affairs, with an emphasis on Montenegro's constructive role in stabilisating the situation and promoting broad dialogue.
