Europe Day celebrations: European dances workshop

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 May 2014) -- United in Diversity – European Dances Workshop took place last evening at the EU Info Centre as one of the kick-off events of the Europe Day celebrations in Podgorica.
Among the participants at the dance lessons workshop were Austria’s Ambassador Johan Frohlich, Czech Republic’s chargé d’affaires Petar Šmejkal, Natalia Panourgia, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Greece, representatives of EU countries’ embassies and the EU delegation, EU honorary ambassador Sanja Popović, and Director for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milivoje Jurišić.
The aim of the workshop was to showcase the cultural heritage of European countries, as well as Montenegrin folklore.
Local dance instructors taught the participants some basic steps of Viennese Waltz, Polish Polka, Greek Sirtaki, Foxtrot, and the Montenegrin traditional dance.
Europe Day celebrations are taking place from 5 until 9 May in Podgorica, Kotor, Nikšić, and Pljevlja. They are being co-hosted by EU Delegation to Montenegro, the EU Info Centre, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and a number of NGOs and they include a number of entertainment, education, sport, and cultural events.
