Labour Ministry: No delays in issuing work permits for foreigners
Podgorica, Montenegro (9 May 2014) – Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare noted in its yesterday’s press release that Montenegro has seen a significant boost in economic activity, and thereby the appreciable increase in the demand for labour. In the first four months of 2014, the employment increased by 23% compared to the same period in 2013 (demand for foreign labour increased by 20.7% and for domestic labour by 20.7%).
Given the increase in the demand, in the first four months of 2014, the Employment Agency of Montenegro issued 1,500 permits for all new hired foreign nationals. The Labour Ministry immediately responded, so there will be no delay in the issuance of work permits for foreigners on any basis.
In the previous period, there has been an evident increase in the demand for work permits for foreigners, and the Government will discuss amendments to the Decision on determining the number of work permits for foreigners for 2014 in order to remove potential barriers to business and meet the needs of the market, the Labour Ministry emphasised.
