Prime Minister Đukanović congratulates European Commission's President Jose Manuel Barroso on Europe Day

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 May 2014) – Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milo Đukanović congratulated President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso on Europe Day by voicing belief that “in the time ahead of us, the European Union, based on values of equality, solidarity and democracy, will continue to make its full contribution to the prosperity and stability of European family of people.”

“For the whole of Europe, this day is an opportunity for reflection and expression of gratitude for what the EU has done in favor of peace, stability and development of our continent. I am convinced that in the period ahead, the coherent open-door policy will be continued and that the EU's enlargement policy will remain to be one of the key policies of the European Union,” the Prime Minister of Montenegro underlines.

He also thanked Mr Barroso for the EU’s continued support for Montenegro’s integration path.

“I take the opportunity to once again express a firm commitment of Montenegro to become part of the European family. In this regard, the Government of Montenegro will be committed to continuing its work on the adoption and implementation of European standards and best practices,” Prime Minister Đukanović concluded in his greeting to the European Commission’s President.
