Podgorica, Montenegro (30 May 2014) – Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs denied the allegations published on the web portal of Montenegro’s daily Vijesti, according to which Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić noted in Budva earlier today that “the country which do not investigate attacks and murders of journalists should not become the NATO member state.”

“Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić, on numerous occasions, including today's Budva’s “To Be Secure” forum and LIBSEEN conference in Kotor, reiterated that she supports Montenegro’s accession to NATO. After all, a great number of journalists, as well as representatives of your media, I assume, have heard today that foreign and defence ministers of Croatia and Slovenia have sent a letter pledging support for inviting Montenegro to join NATO at the upcoming summit in Wales,” Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs stated in its letter to daily Vijesti, which was forwarded to the Public Relations Bureau of the Government of Montenegro by Spokesperson of the Ministry Danijela Barišić.

Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs voices hope that daily Vijesti will publish the denial in line with principles of journalist's profession.
