Jerusalem, Israel (9 June 2014) – During his official visit to Israel, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić met with his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Liberman.

The meeting discussed possibilities for improving cooperation between the two states, with a particular emphasis on strengthening common guidelines and mechanisms for fostering intestate ties and connections.

The two officials underlined their willingness to upgrade collaboration in all areas of the common interest, particularly focusing on economic cooperation. In that regard, they examined possibilities for the implementation of concrete projects in the fields of energy, tourism and agriculture.

Strengthening of contractual basis is one of the key bilateral activities and additional efforts have to be made in harmonising agreements related to economy, science, technology, tourism, education and environment protection, the two officials agreed.

DPM Lukšić also met in Jerusalem with Israeli Minister of Tourism Usi Landau. Both sides agreed that establishing direct air link between the two states is an important precondition for stronger influx of Israeli tourists, and that is necessary to find a solution acceptable for stakeholders from both states, the two officials concluded.
