EU Council of Ministers endorses draft agreement on cooperation between Montenegro and Europol

At today's meeting in Luxembourg, the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council endorsed the Agreement on Operational and Strategic Cooperation between Montenegro and Europol, and authorised the Europol to sign the agreement. The approval is the final stage in the EU’s procedure, which gives the possibility to organise the signing ceremony.
Before the Council made the decision, the draft agreement had been approved by the EU member states and the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) on 4 June 2014.
Montenegro has carried out all the necessary procedures so that there is no obstacle for signing the agreement.
Today's decision came as a confirmation of Montenegro's progress in the EU accession process, thus creating additional opportunities for stronger fight against various forms of crime and achieving measurable results through the implementation of measures from the Action Plan for Chapter 24.
