DPM Lazović participates in Ministerial Forum on ICT in Singapore

Singapore (17 June 2014) – Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications Vujica Lazović participated in this year’s Ministerial Forum on ICT titled "Smart Nation: Harnessting Opportunities, Adressing Challenges", which took place in Singapore.

In the speech devoted to "smart cities and ICT future", DPM Lazović stressed that the concept of "smart cities" has played a significant role in the information society in recent years, given the increasingly complex challenges cities are facing nowadays.

"The concept is based on sustainable urban development experience, through innovations in industry, education and governance. Achieving this concept should enable the re-establishment of connections between individuals and communities, as well as companies, both public and private ones. The objective of the initiatives the concept implies is strengthening social and economic resources, as well as potentials to preserve the environment through improvements in communication between technological and social progress of citizens living in “smart cities”, Minister Lazović pointed out.

ICT Ministerial Forum has been sponsored by the Infocomm Development Authority under the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Government of Singapore, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. The island city-state of Singapore is the city of the future and the 4th financial center in the world which plays a key role in global trade, as well as in the application of advanced technologies.
