DPM Lukšić, PM Vučić: Montenegro and Serbia to continue cherishing good and friendly relations

Belgrade, Serbia (18 June 2014) – Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Igor Lukšić met with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić to discuss current cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting underlined the two countries cherish very good relations and that the cooperation should be strengthened, particularly referring to the promotion of joint projects and projects of common economic interest.

The European integration process and mutual support provide a solid basis for promoting and fostering cooperation between the two states, the two officials stressed. Regular communication between the EU chief negotiators and operative structures testifies to joint commitment to European agenda, they added.

The meeting's agenda also included the issues of joint approach to EU funds and defining the common projects. The promotion of major regional infrastructure projects is of high significance for the economic growth not only of these two countries, but of the entire region, the two officials emphasised. In that regard, they discussed the construction of the Bar-Beograd motorway and the reconstruction of the railway on the same route.
