''All countries of the Alliance saw Montenegro as the most serious candidate for 29 member, but the invitation would not be extended this year only because it was necessary to do a bit more job regarding the fulfillment of conditions'', said the Ambassador of Croatia in NATO, Boris Grigić.

''A conclusion of NATO foreign ministers, which had to be additionally confirmed in the Summit, was an excellent news for Montenegro, and it should not be interpreted as the conclusion that anything failed to happen. If one considered the essence of the conclusion, then one could see that it was the beginning of concrete activities which would finally result in membership of Montenegro in NATO'', he said.

According to Grigić, the job which Montenegrin institutions and NATO teams is to do in the forthcoming year is actually a part of a normal procedure which has to be done before membership.
''After, not later than the end of 2015, the issue of extending the invitation would be considered, it would be a final act, the finals of the process, which would start after the Summit. And the final act would be usually short and efficient'', said Grigić to MINA Agency.

He thought that there should not be any reason for concern. ''Montenegro is on the right path, and it intensively approaches a total fulfillment of conditions for membership in NATO and it will happen soon''.

Commenting media statements that the United States of America (USA), France and Germany opposed it that Montenegro would be issued invitation for membership in the Alliance, Grigić said that all NATO members saw Montenegro as the most serious candidate for 29 member.
''And they supported the efforts that all the most responsible officials of Montenegro did in order to realize the strategic goal. In that sense, the USA was not any exception'', he added.

He thought that there was only one reason why the membership of Montenegro in the Alliance and the receiving of invitation were prolonged - it is necessary to do a bit more job on the fulfillment of conditions.

Being asked what Montenegro was expected in the forthcoming period when it was about the reform of the security sector and the rule of law, Grigić said that it was about a total fulfillment of standards, including also the implementation in practice of those ones which were regulated by law.
''My recommendation would be – to make a bit more effort, not because of NATO, but because of your citizens, and you would be cordially welcomed as 29 member of the strongest, the biggest and the the most long-lasting military and political Alliance in the history of mankind'' – concluded Grigić.
