Podgorica, Montenegro (18 July 2014) – Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today Director-General of the UNESCO Irina Bokova.

PM Đukanović commended very fruitful cooperation that has been established between Montenegro and the UNESCO based on common values and tradition, adding Montenegro is very active partner of the UN system, which can be confirmed by the fact that the country is a member of the Executive Committee of the UNESCO. He stressed his Government is willing to support development priorities and to contribute to the implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals in the coming period.

Director-General Bokova thanked PM Đukanović on huge contribution aimed at improving the situation in key areas within the UNESCO's scope. She underlined that the organisation does not evaluate countries by their size, but by the contribution they make. In that regard, Montenegro is one of the most active countries in this organisation, she emphasised.

Director General Bokova invited PM Đukanović to attend the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the UNESCO, which will be held next year.
