Minister Pejanović Đurišić, Italian Admiral Di Giorgi: Montenegro and Italy cherish fruitful cooperation in defence sector

Podgorica, Montenegro (30 July 2014) – Minister of Defence Milica Pejanović Đurišić met with Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy Admiral Giuseppe De Georgi on the occasion of the arrival of the sailing ship "Palinuro".

Minister Pejanović Đurišić underlined the Montenegrin and Italian Navy have developed fruitful cooperation, particularly referring to the engagement of the Montenegrin soldiers at the Italian Navy’s ships, joint participation in EU Naval Force operation ATALANTA and regional importance of the ADRION initiative. In the coming period, Montenegro expects Italia’s full support in the field of its defence system reform, having in mind that NATO membership is one of the country’s foreign policy priorities, she emphasised.

Admiral De Georgi highlighted the Italian Army will continue strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in terms of improving collaboration between the two navies and providing support to Montenegro’s accession to NATO.
