MFAEI press release on the document entitled “On the Application of Certain Special Economic Measures to Ensure the Security of Russia”
Published on: Aug 7, 2014 • 9:40 PM Author: PR Bureau
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro ordered the county’s Embassy in Russia to make a thorough report on economic measures set out in the decree issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin on special economic measures for ensuring Russia’s security.
The document imposes one-year restrictions on the import of agricultural products, raw materials and products designed for sale from the countries that have decided to support sanctions against Russian natural or legal persons.
Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration regrets the Russia’s decision, emphasising that complying with the decisions of the EU is in line with the implementation of the country’s foreign policy priorities and respect for the principles and values Montenegro cherishes in international relations. Not for a moment the decision has had anti-Russian character, the Minstry stressed.
The Ministry hopes that Montenegro’s stance on this issue will be understood by the authorities and citizens of Russia and the decision will not affect the good and friendly relations established between the two countries or seriously threaten the continuation and development of bilateral relations and cooperation.
