Cooperation between Montenegrin and German police to be enhanced

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 October 2014) – Joint statement of the German and Montenegrin interior ministries on cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime, and establishing joint capacities, will be signed soon and is aimed at enhancing cooperation in that field, the meeting between Montenegro's Interior Minister Raško Konjević and President of Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany Jörg Ziercke announced yesterday.

One of the key priorities of Montenegrin institutions is strengthening the rule of law and fight against organised crime and corruption, which can be achieved only through joint cooperation between Montenegro and its neighbours, Minister Konjević underlined. All Western Balkan's countries faces similar issues and the Montenegro is willing to join forces with its partners in order to deal with these problems more efficiently, he added.

The two officials agreed to establish joint investigation teams comprised of members of the German and Montenegrin police, organise training programme for officers of the crime police sector and strengthen capacities of the Forensic Centre.
