Montenegro set to advance respect for public peace and order

Podgorica, Montenegro (9 October 2014) – Montenegro’s Cabinet endorsed at today’s session the Bill Amending the Law on Public Peace and Order with the aim of defining relevant terms, legal institutions and characteristics of the offense against public peace and order more comprehensively, Miloš Vukčević of the Interior Ministry told the press earlier today.

The bill introduces new offences that have direct adverse impact on public peace and order and eliminates the existing gaps of certain provisions of the current law and possibilities for thier ambigious interpretation and application, Mr Vukčević explained.

He added the bill harmonises the range of fines according to the elements of the offense in order to support the principle of prevention in relation to repression, and to encourage respect for the law and the settlement of established obligations.
