DPM Marković visits Italy: Reform process in Montenegro will enable EU borders to extend to other side of Adriatic Sea
Rome, Italy (16 October 2014) – Italy will provide full support to Montenegro in its efforts aimed at gaining the full-fledged membership in the EU, Lieutenant General of Italy's Financial Police Severio Capolupo emphasised at the meeting with Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Duško Marković, which took place in Rome earlier today.
Lieutenant General Capolupo voiced his expectations that reform process in Montenegro in pursuing one of its main foreign policy goals – EU membership will enable EU boarders to extend to the other side of the Adriatic Sea, which is in the common interest of both the EU and Montenegro as a candidate country.
DPM Marković informed Liutenant General Capolupo about the key activities of the Government of Montenegro aimed at strengthening the rule of law, in terms of improving the efficiency of institutions related to the law implementation in order to achieve sustainable and credible results important for the state and its citizens. Along with the legislative activities, intensive trainings for the stuff employed in the institutions for the law enforcement are being conducted thanks to the successful cooperation between the Italian Financial Police and Montenegrin institutions, particularly the Customs Administration.
The two officials agreed on the establisment of cooperation of the institutions related to the exchange of information and good practise, as well as the on the exchange of the representatives from the relevant institutions in order to enhance joint activities.
DPM Marković is paying his three-day visit to Italy, where he will also meet with his Italian counterpart Andrea Orlando, Italian Minister of the Interior Angelino Alfano, General Commander of the Italian Carabinieri Leonardo Gallitelli and Chief Prosecutor at Italin Anti-Mafia Prosecutor Franco Roberti.
