Bundestag’s Peter Beyer: Germany acknowledges Montenegro’s progress towards EUaccession

Podgorica, Montenegro (21 October 2014) – Germany fully supports Montenegro in overcoming challenges, particularly those in the priority areas set out in the European Commission's 2014 Progress Report, member of the Bundestag’s Committee on International Relations and the Committee’s Rapporteur on Montenegro Peter Beyer stressed at the meeting with Prime Minister Milo Đukanović.

PM Đukanović commended dynamic relations between Montenegro and Germany, additionally strengthened by the successful organisation of the Conference on the Western Balkans in Berlin in late August. In that regard, he emphasised the importance of Germany's support when it comes to the integration process of the Western Balkans and economic and infrastructural development as a precondition for the European path of the countries in the region.

PM Đukanović thanked the Government of Germany for the continued support aimed at enhancing development of the country, adding that Montenegro is fully committed to implementing reforms and meeting goals arising from the European and Euro-Atlantic agenda.
