Tourism Minister Gvozdenović appointed member of UNECE’s Environment and Health Ministerial Board

Geneva, Switzerland (4 November 2014) – At the 20th session of the Committee on Environmental Policy within the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism and Sustainable Development Branimir Gvozdenović became a member of the UNECE's Environment and Health Ministerial Board for 2015 on behalf of South-East Europe.

Minister Gvozdenović’s appointment is the result of Montenegro’s strong commitment to environmental protection and health, which are recognised by the UN system as well. It also creates an opportunity for Montenegro’s active engagement in facing challenges which are affecting the entire region and suggesting activities for strengthening synergy in implementing defined policies.

Montenegro is also given a chance to make significant efforts and contribution in framing strategic trends and priorities with regard to health and environmental policy.

UNECE's Environment and Health Ministerial Board is a political structure of the Committee on Environmental Policy and represents a driving force of international politics in this area. The Committee was established in 2011 and is aimed at creating political profile and leadership in the aforementioned area.

The sixth Ministerial Board is scheduled for 2016. In that regard, the activities of the Board are extremely important for defining the guidelines of future development and progress in the field of environment and health.
