Podgorica, Montenegro (1 December 2014) – Simultaneous analogue and digital programme broadcasting in Montenegro officially starts today and will last until 17 June, when the analogue TV signal will be turned off and replaced with a digital one, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information Society and Telecommunications Vujica Lazović noted in his press statement.

“Digitalisation process in Montenegro is nearing completion. It is crucial as it is a country’s obligation arising from the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and the Law on Public Broadcasting Service, as well as a standard and something that enters the domain of human rights,” DPM Lazović pointed out.

Reception of the digital TV signal, he added, requires the Set-Top Box device connected to the existing TV device, or a new TV model that supports DVB-T2 and MPEG-4 standards.

DVB-T2 is the world’s most advanced digital terrestrial television (DTT) system, offering more robustness, flexibility and at least 50% more efficiency than any other DTT system, DPM Lazović concluded.
