Norway to continue to support judicial reform projects in Montenegro

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 February 2015) -- Norway willl continue to provide financial suport to Montenegro, having in ming the successful implementation of previous joint projects and programmes, Norwegian Ambassador Nils Ragnar Kamsvag said at his meeting with Montenegro's Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Duško Marković.

DPM Marković thanked Ambassador Kamsvag for Norwegian assistance, particularly in terms of strengthening the rule of law and judiciary in Montenegro. In that regard, the two officials announced continuation of cooperation aimed at introducing modern technologies and strengthening existing ICT infrastructure in courts and prosecutors' offices, as well as in the Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanctions.

The meeting in particular stressed the importance of projects implemented by the civil sector, which the Government of Norway strongly support, both in Montenegro and in the region.

The meeting also addressed current situation in the region, in the context of crisis in Europe and beyond. Ambassador Kamsvag welcommed Montenegro's proactive approach in that area, from the perspective of amendments to the criminal legislation related to the issue of fighters in foreign battlefields.
