Prime Minister Đukanović hosts OSCE Chairman Ivica Dačić
Podgorica, Montenegro (17 February 2015) -- Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Đukanović met in Podgorica with the OSCE Chairman and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić.
Prime Minister Đukanović congratulated Serbia and the OSCE Chairman Dačić on successful start of the presidency and wished them success in terms of strengthening European perspective of the region. He particularly highlighted importance of the presidency in the light of restoration of confidence in the region and better cooperation, to which Montenegro continues to make its wholehearted contribution.
Reinforcing the Western Balkan’s stability on its integration path takes central stage of the Serbian presidency over the OSCE, the meeting concluded.
The OSCE Chairman Ivica Dačić noted that Montenegro is an important part of the organisation and that it makes significant contribution to promoting values of the OSCE heritage. He pointed out that relations between Montenegro and the OSCE will be further enhanced with the aim of achieving the country’s strategic objectives.
The meeting emphasised the excellent relations established between the OSCE Mission in Podgorica and the Montenegrin government and institutions, as well as other social stakeholders, which can set an example of successful partnership to other countries in the region. In that regard, Prime Minister Đukanović and Chairman Dačić commended the assistance provided by the OSCE Mission in achieving Montenegro’s strategic priorities - accession into EU and NATO, with an emphasis on good governance and the rule of law. They also praised the activities carried out in cooperation with the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media in terms of strengthening media self-regulation in Montenegro.
Prime Minister Đukanović and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Dačić concluded that Montenegro and Serbia have established very good relations, which are to be further improved through economic coopertion and affirmation of European values.
