The Government of Montenegro at the session from 11 December 2014, adopted the National Action Plan for the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources by 2020, and took over the obligation of meeting the national target for 2020 in the amount of 33% of the total share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption in Montenegro.
National Action Plan for the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources by 2020 defines the dynamics related to the utilization of natural resources, as well as the planned use of technologies needed to meet the national target regarding the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption.
The national target for the use of energy from renewable sources, which represents the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy, is determined for Montenegro in accordance with Decision (2012/04/MC-EnC from 18 October 2012) adopted at the 10th Ministerial Council of the Energy Community. The aforementioned decision obliges Montenegro to implement the Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources in its legal system, as well as the obligation to achieve the national target in the amount of 33% by 2020.
