Handover of equipment for container and baggage control testifies to successful cooperation between Montenegro and China

Podgorica, Montenegro (6 March 2015) – Today’s signing of the certificate on the handover of equipment for container and baggage control testifies to another successful China’s donation to Montenegro. The certificate was signed by Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazović and Chinese Ambassador Cui Zhiwei.

Today’s signing ceremony was preceded by a joint review and verification of quantity, quality and delivery specifications and a relevant technical training.

The Chinese side, based on the exchange of letters of 17 July 2014, provided a mobile system for control of containers and four X-ray apparatus for controlling luggage. The supplier of the equipment is the Nuctech company, whose Managing Director for Europe Fu Qiyuan attended today's signing ceremony.

The equipment had arrived in the Port of Bar on 17 December 2014, after which the X-ray was installed at the Tivat Airport, Passenger Terminal in Bar, Post Office for Customs Clearance in Podgorica and Dobrakovo border crossing, while a mobile scanner for control of containers was installed in the Customs Terminal in Podgorica .

Chinese Ambassador Cui Zhiwei voiced satisfaction with quality and timely application of the donation, emphasising China is one of the three countries able to produce mobile scanners for containers control.

Director of the Customs Administration of Montenegro Vladan Joković thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the donation and said it will facilitate modernisation of Montenegro’s customs system and contribute to effectiveness in the fight against all forms of crime and smuggling of goods.
