Third session of Montenegro's Council for National Security

Podgorica, Montenegro (18 March 2015) – Yesterday's third session of Montenegro’s Council for National Security discussed the reports made by the Bureau for operational coordination and harmonisation of activities of the authorities in charged for the intelligence and security sector.

The session addressed activities of the Agency for National Security related to the implementation of amendments to the Law on Agency for National Security in terms of reaching goals prescribed by the law.

The meeting underlined that respective authorities should professionally address the key challenges towards strengthening security and the rule of law.

Having in mind the Bureau for operational coordination is a new institute established in line with a particular law, it represents a unique mechanism of coordinating work of the bodies which constitute Montenegro's intelligence and security system at the operative level. In that regard, the setting up the bureau is a positive breakthrough towards the implementation of the Law on basic principles of intelligence and security sector, the meeting concluded.
