PM Đukanović, Albanian President Nishani: Montenegro and Albania to boost cooperation in infrastructure and energy
Podgorica, Montenegro (23 March 2015) – Montenegro and Albania cherish friendly relations and their bilateral cooperation serves as an example of the good neighbourly relations which have an impact on strengthening stability of the entire region, Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and Albanian President Bujar Nishani agreed at their today's meeting in Podgorica.
PM Đukanović in particular commended intensive collaboration of the two countries, particularly the comprehensive dialogue at the highest level and common European and Euro-Atlantic strategic goals.
Montenegro and Albania have a bright future whent ic comes to joint infrastructural and energy projects which will improve connectedness and quality of life of the citizens, he highlighted.
Besides cooperation in construction of roads and modernisation of the railway, Montenegro and Albania could work jointly on the valorisation of tourist potentials and agricultural production, particularly when it comes to using potentials of the Skadar Lake, the meeting emphasised.
Albanian President Nishani commended Montenegro's government and Prime Minister Đukanović for their contribution to maintaining good relations between the two countries. As to Montenegro's Euro-Atlantic accession process, Mr Nishani underlined that once Montenegro becomes a NATO member, stability of the entire region will be strengthened.
Mr Nishani highlighted that infrastructural development and valorisation of energy and tourism potentials are top priorities of the cooperation between the two states.
The meeting also discussed cooperation with other neighbours, stressing the need to improve respect for minority rights which is a precondition for the continuation of the overall cooperation between Podgorica and Tirana.
