Minister Pejanović-Đurišić at the White House: Confirmed continuity of US support

Minister of Defence Prof Milica Pejanović-Đurišić, PhD discussed at the White House with Colin Kahl, the Vice President Joe Biden's National Security Adviser and Deputy Assistant to the President, and Charles Kupchan, the Director of European Affairs at the National Security Council.   

During the meeting with Kahl, it was once again emphasized the US support to Montenegro’s membership in NATO, identified a visible progress in realization of key reforms which Montenegro realized after the Alliance’s Summit in Wales, and plans for continuation of the activities for achieving necessary standards. There was discussion about the importance of Montenegro's membership in NATO for the stability of the region and Europe.

Toward the announced assessment of Montenegro’s readiness to join the Alliance in December, Minister Pejanović-Đurišić discussed with Charles Kupchan the achieved results in the process of NATO integrations. The meeting was attended by Senior Director for Defense Policy and Strategy in the National Security Council Staff of the White House, Stephen Flanagan. The interlocutors especially emphasized a partnership relationship of Montenegro, its participation in the mission in Afghanistan and other activities which proved that Montenegro shared with its NATO allies values and principles of the democratic society.
