Daily DAN's claims about “weapons delivery” to Ukraine are groundless

The Government of Montenegro dismisses as untrue, unfounded, and tendentious the claims published on 10 April 2015 by daily DAN in the newspaper article entitled “Weapons dispatched to Ukraine by American planes flying through Iraq” according to which Montenegro's donation to the Government of Iraq was allegedly dispatched to Ukraine as well.

As was announced to the public on 18 February 2015, Montenegro has donated to the Government of Iraq certain amounts of ammunition from the surplus reserves that were deemed unnecessary for the functioning of the Army of Montenegro. Similar donations were also made by some other countries from the region.

The public was informed that the transport of the said items went through Golubovci Airport in Podgorica, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Montenegro.

Given that all relevant information has been communicated to the public, as well as that the realisation had been carried out pursuant to the Government conclusions of the 97th Cabinet session held on 29 January 2015, the claims put forth through daily DAN that the transport had contained weapons, that it ended up in Ukraine and that “the boxes contained dispatch stickers stating Baghdad and Kiev as delivery destinations” are groundless and represent just another piece of disinformation launched from circles out of Montenegro, with an easily recognisable objective.
