PM Đukanovć, Ambassador Zhiwei: Highway construction project to deepen cooperation between Montenegro and China

Podgorica, Montenegro (27 May 2015) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today Chinese Ambassador to Montenegro Zhiwei.

Montenegro and China have developed very good relations based on the tradition and enhanced economic cooperation, the two officials agreed.

"Acceleration of the overall relations, particularly through the initiative aimed at boosting cooperation between China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, has formed a good basis for further development of the relations between the two countries," said Prime Minister Đukanović.

He also voiced satisfaction over the start of the implementation of the most important infrastructure project in Montenegro - the construction of the Bar-Boljare highway, adding the project will be an impulse to deepen cooperation between Montenegro and China.

Ambassador Zhiwei confirmed his satisfaction with the relations between the two countries at political and economic levels, highly assessing the overall progress of Montenegro. He pledged the Chinese government's strong support to the implementation of the highway construction project, hopeful that the Chinese companies will perform the demanding tasks in a quality and timely manners.

Both sides voiced interest in strengthening cooperation in tourism and stronger promotion of investment and tourism potential of Montenegro.
