Justice Minister Pažin meets in Brussels with EU representatives

Brussels, Belgium (3 June 2015) – The Government of Montenegro and Ministry of Justice provided the needed conditions for establishing the Special State Prosecutor-s Office and Anti-Corruption Agency, and the process is being carried out in accordance with the planned dynamics, Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin highlighted at yesterday's meeting with representatives of the European Council and European Commission in Brussels.

During his visit to the Montenegro’s mission to the EU, Minister Pažin thanked members of the COELA working group for the continued support and informed them about the implementation of the key measures from the chapters 23 and 24. The meeting commended cooperation between Montenegro’s mission to the EU and the COELA, particularly when it comes to prompt and detailed reporting considering the key activities of the Montenegrin institutions in the rule of law area.

Minister Pažin also met with Dirk Lange, Head of the Unit for Montenegro in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Enlargement, for talks on concrete issues related to the strengthening of institutional and legal framework for the fight against corruption and organised crime. Mr Lange informed Minister Pažin about preparations for issuing the Progress Report for 2015, stressing that the negotiation process in chapters 23 and 24 is entering a more intensified and focused phase.
