PM Đukanović, Richard of French Foreign Ministry: Montenegro contributes to creating mechanisms for implementing regional projects

Podgorica, Montenegro (15 June 2015) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today Special Envoy of the French Foreign Ministry Alain Richard, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro. 

Prime Minister Đukanović expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic political and economic dialogue between Montenegro and France, and the overall development of bilateral relations, referring also to the importance of the French support for efforts made by Montenegro and the region towards European and Euro-Atlantic accession, as a precondition for a stable and long-term development of the Western Balkans. In that context, he reiterated France’s contribution to the current process of infrastructural connecting the region with the rest of Europe in order to overcome decades of backwardness and boost economic development.

"The government remains committed to strengthening economic development of Montenegro and overcoming key challenges in the fields of strengthening the rule of law and improving knowledge," Montenegro’s Prime Minister underlined.

Special Envoy Richard voiced satisfaction with the cooperation established with Montenegro which contributes to achieving objectives and creating mechanisms for implementing joint projects in the region under the auspices of the European Union in the fields of transport and energy infrastructure. He especially referred to economic cooperation between Montenegro and France, emphasising the importance of development projects in the sectors of tourism and transport.

Both sides agreed that the implementation of the agreement Prime Minister Đukanović signed with representatives of the French economy in Paris in late 2014 is going in the right direction.

The two countries will pay special attention to the programmes for young people in terms increasing their mobility and adopting new knowledge crucial for both society and their own competitiveness.
