Atlantic Council to support Montenegro in pursuing Euro–Atlantic agenda, says Executive Vice President Wilson

Washington, USA (9 July 2015) – The Atlantic Council, as a strong promoter of NATO enlargement policy, will continue supporting Montenegro in pursuing its Euro – Atlantic agenda, Executive Vice President Damon Wilson highlighted at yesterday's meeting with Montenegro’s Justice Minister Zoran Pažin

Minister Pažin informed Mr Wilson about the reforms aimed at strengthening the rule of law, as well as legal and institutional framework for the fight against organised crime and corruption. He also presented the results achieved in the judiciary reform, voicing his expectations that Montenegro’s efforts in this area will result in receiving NATO membership invitation by the end of the year.

Executive Vice President Wilson commended Montenegro's results in dealing with the court backlog.

The two officials agreed that Montenegro has made visible progress towards implementing reforms in defence and security system. The growing trend of public support is also a result worth mentioning in this phase of Euro –Atlantic accession process, they pointed out.
