US Ambassador Uyehara: Montenegro’s determination to become NATO member best way to make its citizens' future secure
Podgorica, Montenegro (24 July 2015) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today US Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara for talks on Montenegro's progress in achieving its key foreign policy priority - membership in NATO, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Montenegro’s determination to become a member of NATO is the best way to make its citizens' future secure. Therefore, the USA will continue to provide strong support for Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic aspiration and tackling the remaining challenges from its NATO agenda, said Ambassador Uyehara.
Prime Minister Đukanović thanked the United States for the continued support which is very important for achieving Montenegro’s strategic objectives and overall social development. He referred to the results achieved at the final stage of the country’s journey towards NATO membership - strengthening the rule of law, and conducting a dedicated campaign towards achieving the greatest possible public support for joining NATO. The Prime Minister voiced his belief that, based on the results achieved, the country’s full commitment and the US strong support, Montenegro will be invited to join the Alliance by the end of the year.
It was also concluded that intensive cooperation at the highest level between the two countries’ administration will be very significant in the coming period.
