Montenegro's Cabinet meeting

Podgorica, Montenegro (20 August 2015) -- As part of the harmonisation of national legislation in the area of fight against corruption and organised crime, the Government of Montenegro approved the Draft Law on Confiscation of Proceeds of Crime. The key innovation defined by the law is the extension of the catalogue of offenses in relation to the possibility of extended confiscation of proceeds of crime. The piece of legislation will contribute to advancing financial investigations, better establishing functional connections between bodies which have the necessary information to conduct financial investigations and the State Prosecutor's Office, employing a certain number of professionals and exchanging experience at regional and international levels.

Within the objectives defined by the Judicial Reform Strategy, the Government approved the Draft Law on the Centre for Training of Judiciary and Public Prosecutors. The law will contribute to achieving objectives set out in the Judicial Reform Strategy 2014-2018, strengthening independence of the judiciary and developing judicial institutions and other institutions in the function of the judiciary.

At today’s session, the Cabinet also appointed Dejan Peruničić as director of the National Security Agency.
