Montenegro and Slovenia establish excellent relations, political dialogue, economic cooperation

Podgorica, Montenegro (20 August 2015) -- Prime Minister Milo Đukanović hosted earlier today a farewell visit by Ambassador of Slovenia Vladimir Gasparič.

Montenegro and Slovenia have established excellent relations, quality political dialogue and economic cooperation, the meeting underlined.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Gašparič for his significant contribution to the improvement of relations between the two countries during his diplomatic mandate. He in particular emphasised Slovenia’s continued support for Montenegro’s EU and NATO bids.

"Slovenia supports European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro and provides friendly support in achieving our strategic foreign policy goals," PM Đukanović said.

He also pointed out the significant development assistance of Slovenia and successful economic cooperation that has prospects of further development.

Ambassador Gasparič reiterated his belief that Montenegro will receive an expected invitation for membership in NATO, which is in the interests not only of Montenegro, but also of the region as a whole. Commenting on the recent meeting between the two prime ministers, the Slovenian ambassador conveyed the invitation to Prime Minister Đukanović to pay an official visit to Slovenia in order to further strengthen bilateral relations.

It was concluded that good interstate cooperation will significantly contribute to the strengthening of economic ties in mutual interest of Montenegro and Slovenia.
