PM Đukanović: US support for inviting Montenegro to join NATO acknowledgement of Montenegro's progress, encourages further reforms

Milocer, Montenegro (15 September 2015) – Following his yesterday's telephone talks with US Vice President Joseph Biden, Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović met earlier today with US Ambassador Margaret Ann Uyehara.

Montenegro has made notable achievements in the fields of the rule of law and public support for NATO membership, and it should continue making progres, US Ambassador  Uyehara noted, reiterating the United States's determination to provide strong support to the country's further efforts in these areas. In that regard, she underlined that Montenegro is a good partner of the United States and entire international community.

Prime Minister Đukanović thanked the US Ambassador for the strong support and voiced satisfaction with the talks and messages sent by Vice President Biden.

"US support for inviting Montenegro to join NATO is an acknowledgement of Montenegro's track record, as well as an incentive for the continuation of reforms. At the same time, the message from Washington is of great significance as an encouragement for the entire region," Prime Minister Đukanović pointed out.

He reiterated his government's commitment to being a responsible partner of the USA and international community.
